Historical Inaccuracies in Movies

I was watching a bootlegged copy of "The Prince of Egypt" just now and noted the portrayal of the Jewish slaves and their Egyptian masters which reminded me of an article I read recently which uses new evidence to conclude that the pyramids were in fact likely not built by slave labor.

Since the new evidence came out a few years after the movie I will forgive somewhat this slight by Disney (even though existing evidence did throw into doubt the true nature of Jewish slave labor in Egypt). However, I cannot ignore other, more blatant examples of Hollywood ignoring established history. In Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" the British are inaccurately portrayed as bloodthirsty butchers (similar to his portrayal of them in "Braveheart"). Also annoying is the fact that the movie expects you to believe that Mel Gibson happens to be the one plantation owner in the south whose slaves are "happy" to be working for him.

The most annoying historical lapse-come-to-Hollywood in my opinion is in "Anastasia" (great songs but horrible history). In this movie Tsarist Russia is portrayed as a happy place where all go about their business in peace, security, stability, and justice while singing and dancing. Rasputin hates the Tsar and his family and uses a deal with the devil to turn these happy people into a mob of demon-controlled killers (the Bolsheviks). In reality, Tsarist Russia was a very oppressive, poor, and dictatorial place, Rasputin was a big supporter of the regime (and vice versa) and the revolutionary mobs rose up in legitimate protest to the incompetence of the government, massive food shortages, appalling work conditions, gross inequalities in wealth, and a disasterous war (WWI) which was dragging on with huge casualties.

Yes, I agree, it is easier to ignore history and movies which are historically accurate tend to be less "fun" but they don't have to be! Good, historically accurate movies are made. Truth is stranger than fiction remember. Any other good examples of blatant historical inaccuracies in movies please feel free to add in the comments.
