Although to be honest, I'd be surprised if any gay people actually wanted to work for the Catholic church given this sort of history but then again some black people did join the Mormon Church after years of similar discrimination.
I agree, for the most part, that organizations (and specifically religious ones) should have a great degree of freedom in who they hire to fit their individual needs. Yet, this is clearly an issue of anti-discrimination. When you let the law protect discriminatory employment practices it undermines equality in other fundamental areas. Freedom of expression is important, so long as you do not actively infringe upon the freedoms of others, although that is clearly a fine line. (Link)
